My personal opinion about Pharm.D

Pharm.D is not a doctoral degree it is doctor in Pharmacy, course which is not equivalent to Ph.D. In India Pharm.D programme is in its budding stage. The first batch of Pharm.D students from India will be passing out in year 2014 .According to the current senario the job oppurtunities are limited in our country, Government of India is planning to create some post for the Pharm.D holders in future but Pharm.D programme will be a better option if you are planning to go abroad.

Before applying for Pharm.D course in any college make sure that the college is having collabration with a reputed hospital .The syllabus is somewhat similer for B.Pharm and Pharm.D .The difference is that Pharm.D students have to undergo one year of internship or residency which is compulsory.

In Kerala the course is under Kerala University for health and applied science (KUHAS), as we all know a six year course in Kerala will take more than six year, due to lagging but I trust KUHAS and they will do their best to condut exams in right time.I don’t want to discourage any students who wish to join the course but these are the facts you should keep  in mind.BEST OF LUCK.
