The Volvo Ocean Race, will reach the Queen of Arabian sea (Kochi ,my home town ) on December 3 , 2008.It is a round the world marathon ocean yacht racing competition,India has never hosted such a prestigious sailing event and the people are very excited to watch this mega event.It is for the first time in the 35 year history of Volvo Ocean Race, stop over in India. And that too at Kochi and my home town is ready to roll out the red carpet . Even though its heavy raining in Kochi the preparations are going in its full swing .
The volvo ocean race will reach Kochi for a stopover of 10 days from December 3 to 13 ,2008, after the 10 days halt it will sail to Singapore.The volvo ocean race which started round the world marathon sailing in october 2008 and cover more than 39,000 nautical miles,visiting 11 ports across the world would set sail from Alicante in spain.It would stop over at cape town ,Kochi,Qungdao in China,Rio de Janeiro, Boston,Galway,Goteborg and Stockholm,before reaching the finishing point, at St.petersburg.
